The patented precision mounts for the Universal Support are integrated in this model's fully cast machine housing. This allows you to have full control and maximum accuracy in your sharpening.

The Tormek T-8 Original is equipped with the SG-250 Original Grindstone that has adjustable characteristics equivalent to 220 to 1000 grit and can sharpen all qualities of steel, including HSS steel. The characteristic Tormek drive system ensures years of silent and reliable operation. The efficient system manages to maintain the optimal speed for water cooled sharpening, even under full load, thanks to its unique driving wheel. The industrial AC motor is maintenance-free and designed to drive the full-size grinding wheel during continuous use. The motor is tested for a 25,000 hour service life.
Intergrated Sleeves
The sleeves for the Universal Support are integrated into the fully cast housing. That ensures minimal play for the Universal Support; an innovation which improves the control of the sharpening and increases the accuracy of the final results.
Micro Adjust
Micro Adjust with acme thread and a scale for precise setting of the edge angle and cutting depth.
Magnetic Scraper
Double function magnetic scraper; during sharpening the magnet collects steel particles and after sharpening the scraper will make it easy to clean the water trough. This keeps your stone clean and cutting more freely.

Exact replication
The key word when sharpening with Tormek is repeatability. You can shape the tool exactly to your needs. Even complicated shapes such as fingernail turning gouges, spoon carving gouges and oval skew chisels with a radiused edge are easily sharpened. This means that when it’s time to sharpen your tool next time you can easily repeat the previous shape.
Two cutting actions in the same stone, from 220-1000 grit
The unique composition of this stone, together with the Stone Grader SP-650 gives you two different cutting actions in one grindstone. The Stone grader polishes the surface of the grindstone from its normal 220 grit to a finish that works like a 1000 grit grindstone.
Fast sharpening yet no risk of overheating the steel
Thanks to the low speed on all our machines, there is no risk that the edge becomes overheated and loses its hardness. On the Tormek T-8, the edge is continuously cooled with water during the sharpening. Once the shape is created, you only remove a fraction of the steel when re-sharpening, which makes it a quick job.
