DETAILS
This Toshiba HDD was used in some Mopar RHP MyGIG navigation radios in the 2011-2015 time-frame. We know it can be used in the 05091661, 05091211, and 05091658 radios, but we don't have a list of other radio part numbers that use it at this time. And you shouldn't buy it just because your radio is a Mopar or your drive is a Toshiba. Match your current drive up to the part number provided here: MK4050-GAC. Seriously!! If your part number doesn't match, this likely won't work for you. If you decide to take a chance even though your number doesn't match, please understand you could be wasting some money. If it doesn't work in place of a different part number, that doesn't make it defective. It just makes it a failed experiment...
The drives came from a New Old Stock dealer inventory leftover RHP radio. They were never used in a vehicle. The radios come right out of the Mopar boxes. ( Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ) If you've researched specialty hard drives, you know this is a low price for a new one.
Installation is pretty easy. There is a plate on the bottom of the radio that can be removed by taking out @5 torx screws. This HDD is hidden right below that plate.
We are told these could be ATA locked, so using them for anything other than an RHP radio could present a challenge. There is evidently a technical process to remove this lock (ATA secure erase?) but it is not necessarily quick and easy. And we cannot provide instructions on doing so. Either way, the drive is exactly what we say it is.
